Roushan's activities are against JP constitution: Kazi Zafar

Tuesday, 10 July 2007

Jatiya Party (JP) senior leader Kazi Zafar Ahmed Monday said JP acting chairman Roushan Ershad's activities are against party's constitution, alleging that she is trying to create a group out of the party.
Talking to a private television channel at his residence, Kazi Zafar claimed that the JP was not divided and its chairman appointed an acting chairman of the party, reports UNB.
He said Roushan Ershad is acting in contravention of the party constitution, 'trying to create a group out of JP'.
Welcoming Ershad's declaration of resignation from JP chairmanship, the JP leader said Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia had served as Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition and they should stand down to make way for new leaders of their respective parties.
He disagreed with AL leader Motia Chowdhury's view that democracy cannot be practised without Hasina and Khaleda.
