RPGCL earns over Tk 917m revenue in last FY

Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL) earned over Tk 917 million (9171.81 lakh) revenue during the fiscal 2006-2007, which was 49.07 per cent higher than that of the previous year.
This was disclosed at the 20th annual general meeting (AGM) of the company held at the Petrobangla board room in the city recently.
RPGCL Chairman and Secretary for Power Division M Fouzul Kabir Khan presided over the meeting.
Also present at the meeting were Petrobangla Chairman Jalal Ahmed, its directors, shareholders, and directors of RPGCL board and high officials of companies and RPGCL Managing Director Abdul Wadud.
During the fiscal, the company earned a net profit of Tk 394.682 million, which was 227.21 per cent higher than that of the previous year.
This year RPGCL was highly successful in expanding its activities in CNG sector. Permission was given to install 104 CNG stations in private sector.
Within this time, 42 CNG filling stations and 28 CNG conversion workshops were installed and 26000 vehicles were converted into CNG system.
The government has been saving foreign currencies worth Tk 40.80 billion per year reducing fuel import.
Now 199 CNG stations and 109 conversion workshops are in operation.
Approximately 121,317 CNG converted vehicles are plying in the roads, which are using around 41.70 MMCM gas per month.
Bangladesh holds ninth position in the world among CNG vehicles using countries.
