RU BCL leader held for kidnapping

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Aug 20: A patrol team of DB of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) arrested a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Rajshahi University (RU) unit from the campus area for his alleged role in kidnapping.
The arrestee was identified as Golam Kibria, a fourth year student of RU culture department and joint general secretary of BCL university unit.
Md. Ifterkharuzzaman, deputy commissioner of RMP confirmed his arrest to the newsmen.
DB police arrested him from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman hall Tuesday evening. Kibria is also accused in four other cases filed with Motihar thana.
Police sources said that on Monday a student named Junnun Walid came at RU to visit the campus. Then BCL leader Kibria and his associates kidnapped him.
Hearing the news of kidnapping, others senior leaders of BCL freed Walid.
After release victim Walid lodged a kidnapping case with Motihar thana Tuesday.
BCL sources said that RU unit on the day recommended to the central committee for expelling Kibria for his active involvement
in kidnapping incident and anti-organisational activities.
Meanwhile, BCL's RU unit expelled two activists while recommended for expulsion of university unit asst secretary Mizanur Rahman, master's student of political science department and joint secretary Golam Kibria, fourth year student of culture department for their active involvement in anti-organisational activities, said a press release.
A press release signed by BCL RU unit general secretary Towhid Al Tuhin confirmed the matter.
As per press release, BCL RU unit expelled their two activists-- Touwsik Taj, first year student of Bangla department and Mahfuzur Rahman Ehsan, second year student of geography and environment science department.
