RU Chhatra Front demands expulsion of BCL activist

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, JUNE 07: Samajtantrik Chhatra Front (SCF), a student wing of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal, Rajshahi University (RU) unit protested the incident of assault of female student by an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) RU unit on June 03.
In a written statement Saturday SCF RU unit president Ausim Chokroborty demanded exemplary punishment of the accused with expulsion from the University immediately.
It mentioned that Monirul Islam, a student of RU Applied Physics Dept and also a worker of BCL RU unit, physically assaulted a female student of Philosophy Dept in front of Begum Khaleda Zia Hall at 8:30 pm on June 03.
After the incident the police confined him but the RU proctor freed him.
Meanwhile, another report adds: A delegation of the Zia Parishad Rajshahi University (RU) unit led by its president Prof Abdul Hamid met RU VC at his office at 12 noon Sunday to protest different steps of the University authorities.
After the meeting Parishad Secretary Dr CM Mustafa at a press briefing told reporters that they protested different illegal and partisan steps of the university administration.
The steps included removal of ten hall provosts before completion of their tenure, mass-transfer of BNP-backed officers and employees, etc.
Dr Mustafa alleged that the RU authorities did not permit them to arrange the observance of death anniversary programme of former President Ziaur Rahman on May 30.
