RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Dec 3: The Central Science Laboratory (CSL) is a premier, multidisciplinary research laboratory at the Rajshahi University (RU) which has enhanced pure science based higher research facilities for centralising major items of equipment used by more than one faculty, institute or departments at the University.
The laboratory started its journey in 1997. But at that time it had no accommodation of its own, so the instruments were placed at different departments and faculties.
Later it was set up at the first science building in 2005 to establish the concept of centralised laboratory services.
The laboratory also provides different technical services to other local research-based organisations, institutes and industries including different universities with access to equipment and scientific services that is not otherwise available in the northern part of the country.
The CSL has helped and deployed new technologies that have achieved not only domestic but also international scientific recognition.
To centralised the facility of research in the physical, chemical and biological research at various departments of the University it is born out.
An official of the laboratory informed that the services it has been providing are FTIR Spectrophotometer, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Fluorescence Spectrophotometer, Impedance Analyzer, Protein Sequencer, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, EEG, Cooling Incubator and Ultra Cooling Centrifuge Machine.
The laboratory has been serving the University of Rajshahi for seven years now and continues to meet the complex technological research challenges of today's world.
This Laboratory also provides high profile research facilities to the teachers and students of Engineering, Science, Life-earth and Agriculture faculties' students, sources added.
