RU emerge champions in inter-university cricket

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Mar 10 (UNB): Rajshahi University (RU) cricket team emerged champions in the Bangladesh Inter-university Cricket Tournament 2018 beating Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) by 29 runs.
The final match took place at Rajshahi University Stadium on Friday.
Winning the toss RU captain chose to bat first. They managed to score 116 runs in the scoreboard for 9 wickets in 20 overs with Sadman Rahman's highest 25 runs for the winners.
In response, SUST team could not make any chance from the very beginning of the match while RU bowlers picked up 3 wickets in just 13 runs. Later, playing all 20 overs SUST team could manage 86 runs for 8 wickets with its captain Rana scoring highest 17 runs for the team.
RU bowler Apu was selected man of the mach for his 3 wickets in 4 overs by giving just 14 runs.
Khulna University player Al Amin scoring 89 runs, taking 7 wickets and 3 catches in 4 matches, was adjudged man of the tournament.
RU Vice-chancellor Professor Abdus Sobhan handed over the champion's trophy.
Among others RU Pro-vice Chancellor Professor Ananda Kumar Saha, proctor Professor Lutfor Rahman, public relation officer Professor Provas Kumar Karmaker, secretary general of the organising committee Md Asaduzzaman addressed the prize-giving ceremony.
Mentionable, a total of 17 public universities including Dhaka and Chittagong Universities participated in the tournament started on March 3.
