RU students demand better transport facilities

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Oct 25: The students of Crop Science and Technology Department of Rajshahi University (RU) staged demonstration demanding better transportation facilities to commute to and from their academic building.
The agitated students blocked the main road and the entrance of the university for one hour to press home their demand at 9.00 am Sunday. As a result, the buses could not leave the campus timely.
The students complained that they have only one bus to go to their academic building at Narical Baria area, situated 20 kilometers off from the main university campus.
The bus runs two trips per day that is quite inadequate for the students. Later the students withdraw their demonstration after assurance by RU Proctor Prof. CM Jakaria to consider their demand.
Sanitation programme begins at RUET
Another report adds: Prof Sirazul Karim Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of (VC) of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) urged upon the engineers to play their role in serving clean water and manage safe sanitation by using domestic technology for the mass people.
RUET Pro-VC Prof. M Mortuza Ali, Prof. S Abdul Mofiz, Dean of Mechanical Engineering faculty, Prof. Shofi Uddin Mian and Eng. M Rashidul Hasan were among others addressing the programme.
