RUET celebrates University Day

RAJSHAHI, Sept 01(BSS): Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) celebrated 'University Day amid joy, enthusiasm and fanfare on its campus on Thursday, marking 19th founding anniversary of the institution.
The day's programme began in the morning with hoisting of the national flag followed by plantation of tree saplings on the campus.
Vice-chancellor-in-cha-rge of the university Prof Sazzad Hossain opened the daylong programmes.
Marking the day, a number of teachers, students and staff brought out a colourful rally that paraded through the campus. A discussion was also held at the Central auditorium.
Addressing a brief meeting on the occasion, VC professor Hossain sought cooperation from all quarters to run the university peacefully and successfully.
He said eleven new ten-storey buildings are being constructed on the campus involving Tk 5.99 billion aimed at providing improved facilities for the teachers, researchers, students and others concerned.
