Ruhul lands in jail over Rajon killing

A Sylhet court has sent Ruhul Amin to jail in the case filed in connection with the brutal killing of Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon in Kumargaon area of Sylhet city on July 8. Judge Anwarul Haque of the Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order after police produced Ruhul before his court on completion of his 7-day remand. On July 20, the same court placed Ruhul Amin on the remand in the case. Police arrested Ruhul Amin, brother-in-law of Ali Haider, a suspect named in the FIR of the gruesome killing case, from Tuker Bazar on the outskirts of the city on July 18. Ruhul allegedly helped Ali Haider hide the body of Rajon after the gruesome killing and later tried to intimidate Rajon’s father to stop him from filing a case in connection with the murder. With the arrest of Ruhul, 13 people have so far been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder. On July 8, the 13-year-old boy, Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in Sadar upazila, was brutally tortured to death over a theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of the city. The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident and uploaded it on the internet. The video clip went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Yutube which triggered a widespread outcry, according to UNB.
