The government will soon formulate guidelines for proper execution of projects under the Public-private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said Wednesday.
"We have to prepare necessary strategies and guidelines for the PPP initiative, which are absent now," the minister told newsmen after a meeting with relevant agencies at his ministry.
About the operational aspect of the PPP scheme, he said: "Although the government will provide funds for the initiative, it will be managed by the private sector."
Senior officials of finance and planning ministries, Board of Investment (BoI), IIFC (Infrastructure Investment Facilitation Center), Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) were present at the meeting.
"Today we have discussed how to proceed with the PPP scheme," he informed newsmen.
He also said necessary fund will be allocated in the next budget for implementation of various infrastructure, telecom and social development projects under the PPP.
Responding to a query, Mr Muhith said the next budget will have specific allocation for implementing some 13 projects under the PPP while a 'lump sum' allocation will also be made for the purpose.
