Rumana ton helps MSC to win title

A brilliant century by Rumana Ahmed helped Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club to clinch the Metropolitan Women's Cricket League title beating their arch rival Dhaka Abahani by 77 runs in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Saturday, reports UNB.
This was Mohammedan's fourth consecutive league title. Sent in to bat first, Mohammedan scored 204 runs for 7 wickets in stipulated 40 overs.
The winners suffered early jolt losing top three wickets --Ayesha (4), Sathira (13) and Eti (5) -- for 26 runs in 10.3 overs.
But, number four Rumana Ahmed helped the team recover from early damage with a fine century and carried the team total 203 runs for 7 in 39.1 overs.
Player-of-the-final Rumana scored 100 runs off 91 balls with 15 boundaries before she was bowled by Jahanara Alam.
On way to century, Rumana pairing with Tahin Tahera (3) contributed 61 runs in the 4th wicket stand and built another 81-run partnering with skipper Salma Khatun (3) in the 5th wicket stand.
Tazia Akther (20) was the other notable scorer for Mohammedan.
Jahanara Alam captured three wickets for 34 runs in 8 overs while Khadija-tul-Kubra and Lata Mondol took one wicket each for 25 and 38 runs respectively.
Chasing a target of 205 runs, Abahani were bundled at 127 runs for 7.
Lata Mondol scored the team's highest 54 runs off 78 balls with five fours while Sharmin Akter (22), Montaha Khatun (15) and Sharmin Sultans (10) were the other major contributors for Abahani reaching the double figures.
Salma Khatuna and Eti Mondol claimed three wickets each conceding 18 and 32 runs respectively.
Lata Mondol of Abahani was adjudged player of the series for her 311 runs in seven innings with a century and a half century and 18 wickets, the highest by an individual.
