Tuesday, 26 June 2007
The government is still hopeful of a positive response from the Saudi prince Bander Bin Mohammad Abdulrahman Al Saud for concluding the deal on his taking over ownership of the Rupali Bank. "We are still hopeful that he will reply positively to take over 93.11 per cent share of the bank," Md Abu Solaiman Chowdhury, chairman of Bangladesh Privatisation Commission, told the reporters Monday after attending a seminar organised by the FBCCI on the day. When asked whether the government has any plan to go for legal action in the event of negative response, he said they had no such plans yet. He, however, did not make any comment when asked about the delay of Saudi prince to respond to the government but said, "We have contacts with him." Besides, Chowdhury said the government has taken priority steps for stimulating private sector through privatisation of more state owned enterprises including banks, jute and textile industries and service sector. — FE Report
