Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Co earns Tk 1.67b revenue

Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL), a company of Petrobangla, held its 21th annual general meeting (AGM) at a city hotel recently, says a press release.
Secretary of Power Ministry and Chairman of RPGCL M Fouzul Kabir Khan presided over the meeting.
The company earned a revenue income Tk. 1.67 billion (167.11 crore) through sales of CNG, LPG, petrol, diesel and other items during the fiscal year 2007-2008 which is 82.20 per cent higher than that of previous year. During this fiscal year the company earned a net profit of Tk 603 million (60.30 crore) which is 52.78 per cent higher than that of previous year.
The company in the fiscal year deposited an amount of Tk 366.7 million (36.67 crore) in the national exchequer.
The company gave approval to install 355 CNG stations in private sector. Within this time, 85 CNG filling stations and 13 CNG conversion workshops were installed and 24000 vehicles were converted into CNG system.
Government has been saving Tk 72.50 billion (7250.00 cr) per year in foreign exchange on account of fuel import.
At present 296 CNG stations and 130 conversion workshops are in operation.
Approximately 146235 CNG driven vehicles are plying the roads, which are using around 62.92 MMCM gas per month. Bangladesh holds 12th position in the world based on number of CNG vehicles in use.
However, its position is first in respect to number of CNG vehicles compared to total number of vehicles in use (NGV :Vehicles).
Chairman of Petrobangla Jalal Ahmed, directors, shareholders, directors of RPGCL board and Managing Director of RPGCL Shahidul Abedin and high officials of the company were present on the occasion.
