Monday, 10 May 2010

Rushanara Ali, first ever Bangladeshi-born Briton elected to the British parliament (House of Commons), Friday said her win materialised the long-cherished dream of all Banglais living in Britain and Bangladesh, reports UNB from London.
"From today I am MP of everybody. Please, pray for me, so I can fulfil my commitments," she said in her instant reaction.
Expressing her deep gratitude to her electorates, Rushanara said it is the day of fulfilment of dream. She also expressed her gratitude to Labour Party for giving her the party ticket to contest in the Bethnal Green and Bow constituency.
MP-elect Rushanara said her Labour Party has been upholding the prestige of the immigrants in UK. She also recalled the party's contribution to Bangladesh's war of liberation in 1971.
