Russia offers Dhaka-Moscow direct flight

Russia has expressed its keen interest in starting direct flight on the Dhaka-Moscow route.
The interest was shown when Russian ambassador in Dhaka Alexander Mantytskiy met civil aviation minister Faruk Khan on Thursday.
The Russian envoy said a huge number of Russian tourists visit different places throughout the world every year.
If a direct flight between the two countries starts, according to him, it will pave the way for an influx of Russian tourists to Bangladesh.
Mr Mantytskiy noted that Russia might contribute significantly to promoting the aviation industry of Bangladesh through providing technical support.
In reply, Mr Khan told the envoy that Bangladesh was keen to become an aviation hub of the region, saying that his government was working seriously to this end.
Welcoming the proposal of a direct flight between the two countries, he said the departments concerned should take forward negotiations on this issue.
Terming Russia a reliable friend of Bangladesh, the minister said his country would also welcome Russian cooperation in promoting the aviation industry.
Also, he urged Russian investors to invest in tourism sector, saying that his government in the last 15 years has done massive infrastructural development in aviation and tourism sectors.
