Russian support sought in energy sector

Bangladesh sought Russian support in energy field to face the energy crisis, reports UNB.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Russia Dr SM Saiful Haque sought the support while presenting his credentials to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at the Alexander Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace on Wednesday, according a message received Thursday from the Bangladesh embassy in Moscow.
The Bangladesh envoy underlined the need for urgent implementation of proposed Nuclear Power Plant in Bangladesh.
Dr Haque drew the attention of the President to the extreme vulnerability of Bangladesh to climate change and sought Russian support in addressing this challenge.
President Medvedev assured full support of Russia in all these areas.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev termed Bangladesh as a key partner of Russia in the areas of trade and investment.
He appreciated Bangladesh's constructive role in multilateral diplomacy.
Dr. Haque along with 12 other newly appointed ambassadors presented credentials to President Medvedev on the day.
The event assumed special significance as it coincided with the Victory Day of Bangladesh, with which the Kremlin was actively engaged.
Bangladesh Ambassador took the occasion to express his country's warm gratitude to the government and the people of Russia for their unflinching support and enormous contribution to Bangladesh's independence.
The Bangladesh Ambassador expressed his firm conviction to reach the bilateral relations to that extent, which over the years, had followed a low-key.
