RUTA observes work abstention

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, June 8: Rajshahi University Teachers' Association (RUTA) observed two-hour work abstention and sit- in programme on Monday on the campus as part of their protest programme for reforming the proposed 8th National Pay Scale.
Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha, president of RUTA said the teachers of the university spontaneously observed the work abstention and sit- in programme in front of senate building from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
No classes were held during the protest programme, but all scheduled examinations were out of the purview of their work abstention programme, he said.
Besides, a protest meeting was held at the same place demanding an independent pay scale for the varsity teachers.
