South Africa A team made a flying start in their Bangladesh tour outplaying the hosts A team by an innings and four runs on the 4th and final day of the first four-day match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Monday, reports UNB.
Replying to the visitors' mammoth first innings total of 676 for 9 (declared), the 2nd string Bangladesh side (346 in 1st innings) Monday resumed the 2nd innings with overnight 148 for 3 and were all out for 326 runs in 94.4 overs to concede the humiliating defeat.
Night watch batsman Nazimuddin, who was batting with 17 runs, contributed team highest 82 runs off 153 balls with 12 fours and two sixes while another night watch batsman Faisal Hossain (35) also made a half century scoring 51 runs off 109 balls with four fours and a six.
Wicket keeper Sahagir Hossain scored 44 runs off 99 balls with six fours, apart from Shahriar Nafees' 51 and Shamsur Rahman's 38 runs Sunday.
Dean Elgar, who claimed two wickets for 24 runs Sunday, Monday made it three for 68 while Veron Philander and Thandi Tshablala took two wickets each for 77 and 81 runs respectively.
Earlier, on Sunday, South Africa A scored a massive 676 runs for 9 in 136.5 overs (declared) in the 1st innings against Bangladesh A featuring three centuries by opener Alviro Petersen (116), Heino Kuhn (191) and Thami Tsolekile (140).
Heino Kuhn pairing with Thami Tsolekile contributed 283 runs in the 6th wicket partnership to guide the visitors to a massive total.
Faisal Hossain grabbed five wickets for 183 runs while Nur Hossain took 2 for 109 runs on Sunday.
Visiting South Africa A team will play their Bangladesh counterparts in the 2nd four-day match that will begin on April 29 at BKSP in Savar ahead of the tri-nation one-day series, also involving West Indies A.
The one-day series will begin at the SBNCS in Mirpur on May 5.
