Wednesday, 6 August 2014

Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Wednesday said South Africa will soon recruit skilled workers and professionals, especially farmers, from Bangladesh. ‘There’s a huge demand for Bangladeshi workers in South Africa. The South African government is keen to recruit workers from Bangladesh. So we’ll send our workers (to S Africa) soon capitalising on the demand,’ he said. The minister was talking to reporters after a meeting with South African High Commissioner to Bangladesh Geoff Doidge, based in Colombo, at the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment in Dhaka. Mosharraf said an agreement will be signed between the two countries on the manpower export. He also said the government is working to appoint a labour attaché in S Africa for the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates, according to UNB.
