South Asian fund managers will visit Bangladesh in December to explore the investment opportunity here, senior vice president of South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE) Fakhor Uddin Ali Ahmad, said Tuesday.
Mr Fakhor Uddin, who is also the president of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), said the South Asian fund managers would join a roundtable during their visit to Bangladesh to be organised by SAFE.
The president said the optimism ensued after a recent meeting of the SAFE executive committee, held in Mauritius, where the committee members joined a capital market conference.
"In the meeting, the fund managers gave their positive opinions about the prospect of the industrial sector in Bangladesh. Moreover, they stressed on an article about the future of investment in Bangladesh, published in one of the leading newspapers in America, namely `World Tribune'," the president said.
The president also said in the upcoming roundtable, the country's entrepreneurs would address the structural conditions and growth trends of the industries. Several other meetings also might be held among the fund managers and the country's entrepreneurs.
"We hope the fund managers will be interested to invest in our country, as they eagerly agreed to visit Bangladesh, at the conference in Mauritius," he said.
The president said the roundtable is likely to be held in Dhaka or Cox's Bazar.
"But the CSE is willing to arrange it in Cox's Bazar so that they get another positive idea about the country's tourism prospect," he said.
