S Korea to develop faster electric bikes

SEOUL, May 3 (AFP): South Korea's government today announced plans to spend seven million dollars developing high- performance electric motorcycles by 2013 to reduce petrol consumption and emissions.
It would receive government funds of 7.84 billion won (7.04 million dollars) for research and development over the next three years.
The replacement would annually save each motorcyclist 740,000 won (660 dollars) in fuel costs and 736 kg (1,619 pounds) in carbon dioxide emissions, it said.
