SA Academy score 256/2 at tea

Hosts South Africa Academy team started well against visiting GP-BCB Academy team as they scored 256/2 in 71 overs in the 1st innings at tea on the 2nd day of the first four-day match at Tukkies in Pretoria Saturday, reports UNB.

Resuming with overnight 43/0 in reply to the tourists' 1st innings score 217/10, an unbeaten century from Stiaan Ban showed signs that the hosts are poised for a big total.

Stiaan remained not out on 136 while Dan Vila made not out 59. Earlier, top order batsman Rushdi Jappie came up with a brisk 56.

Shamsur Rahman Shuvo and pacer Mahbubul Alam Robin took one wicket apiece.

Earlier, sent into bat first, the tourists passed the 200-run mark with two useful fifties from Marshall Ayub and Imrul Kayes.

After the first four-dayer, the 2nd four-day match between the two academy sides will be held August 14-18 at Laudiam in Pretoria.

Later, in the one-day matches, the GP-BCB Academy team will play their South African counterpart in the first match on Aug 20 at Dobsonville in Johannesburg, the second on Aug 22 at Tukkies in Pretoria, and the third and last match on Aug 24 at Lenasia in Johannesburg.
