SA youth convention Jan 7-8

Some 2000 young professionals, entrepreneurs, business-executives and activists from eight SAARC countries are expected to meet in Dhaka on 7-8 January at a two-day youth convention.
The theme of the convention is: Youth of Rising South Asia: Promises and Dreams.
The SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) and Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) president, respectively, Annisul Huq and AK Azad, made the announcement at a press conference on Tuesday in a city hotel.
The two trade bodies are jointly organizing the regional convention styled 'LEAD2012'.
They focused on preparations, potentials and expectations from LEAD2012 convention at the press conference.
President Md Zillur Rahman is expected to inaugurate the event at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre. The second day of the convention would be held in a city hotel.
Annisul Huq said youths in the 8 SAARC countries constitutes 40 per cent of the population. The purpose of the convention is to make the young people aware about their society and activates patriotism into their mind.
"If we can change only 10 youth's lives and their attitude towards life and society, we will think that the convention is a success," he said.
He informed that renowned journalists Simon Dring and Mark Tulley would attend the convention to share their experience of 1971 liberation war.
The convention will cover many issues in 8 sessions including "Leadership", "What does it take to inspire", "Young Entrepreneurs: Rising South Asia", "What does it take to evolve and grow", "Women Leadership", "Battling Bias", "Media Sessions" and "What does it take to connect and inspire".
He also blamed the biggest country of the region, India, and its tough bureaucracy as the reason for SCCI's failure.
FBCCI President AK Azad said SAARC has given very little to the countries due to uncooperative politics of the countries.
He said the regional business among the 8 SAARC countries accounts for only 5.0 per cent which was a matter of disappointment.
Member Secretary of the convention committee AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul and members of the committee Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babul, Abul Kashem Ahmed and Abdul Haque were present at the press meet.
