SAARC foreign ministers\\\' meeting held in New York

The foreign ministers of the SAARC countries gathered at Hotel Westin in New York on Thursday (US eastern standard time) to take stock of the current world situation and also discuss the topics to be included in the top agenda of the next summit, meeting sources said. The foreign ministers of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) also discussed about the preparation of the SAARC summit to be held in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu in November. All the eight foreign ministers held detailed discussions on the priorities of each country, Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque said. ‘Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali presented Bangladesh’s priority in the meeting,’ he said. Regional connectivity and expansion of trade and investment also came up for the discussion,’ he told reporters today. The SAARC foreign minister’s meeting was held in the US city on the sidelines of the 69th UNGA being held at the UN headquarters, according to a news agency.
