A vegetable trader found all his family members dead four hours after he went out of home, which was crushed by a five-storied building that collapsed in the capital Tuesday night.
Mofazzal Hossain, who hails from Islampur of Jamalpur district, had been living a happy life for several years at Begunbari tin-shed slum along with his wife Sharmin Akhter, a four-year-old daughter Meghla and his elder brother Eijen.
The ill-fated vegetable vendor had dinner with his family and guests at about 8:00 pm. His brother-in-law Babu and niece Shantona, who secured GPA-5 in the latest SSC examination, came to visit them on the very fateful day. Who knew, that was going to be his last family gathering?
Mofazzal heard the news of the tragic incident at 11:45pm, which killed all the five, when he was trading vegetables at Karwan Bazar kitchen market in the city.
"I am finished. The sudden incident has snatched everything from me," Mufazzal said.
"How can I remain alive without my daughter? Who'll now call me 'baba' (daddy)?" he screamed.
He became senseless after seeing the face of his daughter.
The building collapse killed 20 people and injured several dozens.
