Sadharan Bima earns Tk 606.1m net profit

Sadharan Bima Corporation (SBC), the only general insurance organisation in the public sector, earned net profit of Tk 606.1 million in 2007 as against Tk 420.4 million in 2006, says a press release.
It has contributed Tk 356.1 million in 2007 as income tax and share of profit to the government. It earned premium worth Tk 4.5575 billion and paid claims of Tk 1.3319 billion in 2007.
The annual accounts of the Corporation for the year 2007 was approved in the 463rd board meeting held Tuesday. The meeting was presided over by M Shamsul Alam, chairman of the board of directors.
All directors of the board -- Md Momtazul Islam (secretary), Mohammad Ali Patwary (joint secretary), Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan, Md Humayun Kabir and Managing Director of the Corporation (additional secretary) Md Shafiqul Azam were present.
All general managers and the senior officers of the Corporation were also present in the meeting.
SBC has deposited about Tk 7.777 billion as tax and profit to the public exchequer since its establishment up to 2007.
