Sadharan Bima earns Tk 773.7m profit in '08

Sadharan Bima Corporation (SBC), the only general insurance organisation in the public sector, earned a net profit of Tk 773.7 million in 2008, which was Tk 167.6 million more than that of the year 2007, said a press release.
The growth rate of profit of the Corporation was 27.65 per cent.
The total premium income was Tk 5.0135 billion and total claims settlement amounted to Tk 1.3403 billion.
The Corporation paid Tk 206.5 million as income tax and Tk 200 million as dividend to the government.
This was declared and approved at the Corporation's board meeting in the city recently.
Rezaul Karim, managing director (additional charge) of the Corporation, placed the annual report of 2008 at the meeting.
M Shamsul Alam, chairman of the board, presided over the meeting.
Members of the board of directors Humayun Kabir, Mohammad Ali Patwary, Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan and other higher officials of the Corporation were also present.
