Safe WASA water and lemonade

Sunday, 28 April 2019

We must congratulate Mizanur Rahman who, along with his friends and family members, protested against the claims of Engineer Taqsem A. Khan, Managing Director of Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA). While responding to a recent report of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Khan had claimed that the water supplied by WASA is pure and drinkable.
Protester Mizanur Rahman brought water from Jurain area of Dhaka city and wanted to make lemonade with it that would be consumed by the WASA MD. But the MD refused to drink it and mocked the protesters.
Often we see our leaders and the people in authority making such tall claims as they think no one will challenge them. This time an ordinary man came forward and challenged the people in power. It is a good example because it will spread a message to the senior officials in the government that they will not go unchallenged if they make a false claim.
I would like to thank Mizanur Rahman for his courage. Conscious citizens should know how to safeguard their rights and help the country move in the right direction.
