Safety tank gas kills 3 workers in Lakshmipur

LAKSHMIPUR, Oct 27: Three workers were killed by safety tank gas at Chirundi Bazar of Bhadur Union under Ramgonj Upazilla Monday.
The workers reportedly entered the newly constructed safety tank after opening its cover. There they lost their conscious and died. The Ramgonj police recovered the bodies but no case was filed till writing of this report.
The workers are Abul Kalam (30), son of Shamsul Hoque of Dorbeshpur, Nur Alam (26), son of Nazir Ahmed of Bhadur & Ibrahim (22), son of Hazi Eskander of Alipur Village under Ramgonj Upazilla.

Meet on hilsha preservation held
Another report adds: A discussion meeting on ban of catching of mother hilsha from October 15 to 24 was held in the Mozu Chowdhury Hat fish landing station Sunday evening. The district fisheries officer-in-charge Kabir Uddin Ahmed presided over the meeting while the deputy commissioner A.B.M Zohurul Islam was the chief guest.
Sadar Upazila fisheries officer Sunil Chandra Ghose, U.P member Alamgir Hossain and fishermen leader Rafiqul Islam among others addressed the meeting. A number of fishermen and local elite also attended the meeting.
