Wednesday, 13 August 2014

A Dhaka court has granted more time to investigators, probing the murder of journalist couple Sagor and Runi for submitting their report. Investigating officer, RAB’s Assistant Superintendent of Police Wares Ali sought more time from the court of Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tareque Moinul Islam Bhuiyan on Wednesday. The court accepted his plea and set September 18 as the new date for submission of the probe report. The deadline for submission of the report has been rescheduled for the 27th time. Court police’s registrar sub-inspector Humayun Kabir said ‘Wares Ali had sent a progress report to the court on Tuesday, where he stated that there were some developments in the probe.’ In 2012, Maasranga Television News Editor Sagar Sarowar and ATN Bangla Senior Reporter Meherun Runi were stabbed to death in the bedroom of their apartment in Dhaka’s West Rajabazar area, according to bdnews24.com.
