Saidul, Badrul new Chandpur Bar president, gen secy

CHANDPUR, Jan 26 (BSS): Awami League (AL)-backed Advocate Md. Saidul Islam Babu and Advocate Md Badrul Alam Chowdhury have been elected President and General Secretary (GS) respectively in Chandpur District Bar Association election.
Chief election commissioner Advocate ATM Mustafa Kamal declared the polls results of Chandpur Bar election last night (Thursday).
Advocate Md. Saidul Islam Babu was elected president receiving 204 votes while his nearest competitor BNP-backed Advocate Md. Selim Akbar got 162 votes and Advocate Md. Badrul Alam Chowdhury came victorious receiving 197 votes while his nearest competitor Advocate Abdullahil Baki got 167 votes.
Of the total 15 posts, AL-backed lawyer panel secured nine posts including president and general secretary while BNP-backed lawyer panel got rest six posts.
The voting of the election concluded around 4pm starting from 12-noon on Thursday. A total of 369 lawyers out of 376 cast their votes.
