Saifur Rahman\\\'s death anniv being observed

The 5th death anniversary of former finance minister M Saifur Rahman is being observed in the country today (Friday) through various programmes. On this day in 2009, Saifur Rahman, a seasoned politician who was also the BNP standing committee member, died in a road accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at the age of 77. The BNP has chalked out various programmes to mark the day. As part of the programmes, a milad mahfil (special prayers) was held at the party central office in Dhaka’s Nayapaltan today. Moulvibazar district unit of BNP is also observing the day through different programmes. The programmes include discussions about late Rahman, the country’s longest-serving finance minister, and prayers and doa mahfil, according to a news agency.
