Sajeda reiterates govt vow to try war criminals

Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury MP said Wednesday that the government was committed to trying the war criminals to fulfil aspirations of the liberation war martyrs.
She said that the trial of the war criminals and the restoration of the constitution, as it was adoption in 1972, are outstanding issues.
Speaking at a seminar as the chief guest, she said resolving the issues were essential for the consolidation of democracy, reports BSS.
Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) hosted the seminar, 'Bangladesh War of Liberation: Aspirations, Achievements and Outlook," to commemorate Bangladesh's 39th day of victory against Pakistan in the War of Independence.
The government, she said, had completed the trial of Bangabandhu's killers. Now, she said, the war criminals and their patrons would be brought to book.
