Salahuddin\\\'s disappearance

Saturday, 21 March 2015

It is disappointing that opposition leader Salahuddin is still missing after more than a week. His family alleged that law enforcing members in plain clothes picked him up at the middle of the night but the law enforcing agencies denied to have detained him. We sincerely want to believe that the government has no hand in the incident of Salahuddin's disappearance. But the responsibility of rescuing Salahuddin from wherever he is definitely lies with the government.
International human rights organizations called for an independent inquiry into the incident. The Bangladesh government has a history of failing to conduct proper investigations into the incidents of disappearance of the opposition members, as in the past, quite a few cases of forced disappearances occurred. Extra-judicial killings and forced disappearances have been going on side by side in our country for quite some time now. People disappeared mysteriously and never came back. I hope Mr. Salahuddin will come back soon to his family and his four children will get back their loving father.
