Salam Murshedi, BCL leader land in jail

Two courts in Khulna have sent former member of parliament (MP) for Khulna-4 and industrialist Abdus Salam Murshedi to jail after rejecting his bail petition in four cases related to killing, attacks and violence, reports BSS.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Takiya Sultana and Judicial Magistrate Altaf Mahmud of the two separate courts passed the orders on Sunday.
On behalf of the accused, Barrister Tahsin Ahmed said Salam Murshedi was produced before the court, showing him arrested in four cases. In the court, his bail petition has been rejected. Subsequently, he was sent to jail.
Prior to this, Salam Murshedi was produced before the court with tight security measures.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court has sent a central leader of banned organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) to jail.
The accused is BCL central leader Md Muktadir Hossain Muktho.
Police produced Muktho before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Sunday. The investigative officer (IO) of the case pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand in a case of attempt to murder by attacking the common students of Dhaka University.
Later, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehra Mahbub passed the order to send him to jail as there was no original document of the case.
The court also fixed the date of hearing of remand on December 30.
Police arrested Muktho from the capital's Shahbagh area on Saturday.
