Sale of essentials by TCB begins

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling of four essential items at 24 outlets in Khulna city through 529 dealers from Tuesday. The items are sugar, gram, pulse and edible oil. TCB will sell sugar at Tk 41 per kg, pulse at Tk 67 per kg, gram at Tk 40 per kg and a litre of palm oil at Tk 75, soybean oil (loose) at Tk 112 and bottled soybean oil at Tk 120. The state-run organisation will sell essential commodities in every ward in the south-western divisional city and other southern districts from today, a TCB release on Monday said it will sell the essential items in Kushtia, Khulna, Satkhira, Jessore, Narail, Magura, Jhenidah and Gopalganj districts. A total of 350 tonnes sugar, 170 tonnes pulse, 170 tonnes gram, 6 lakh litres soybean and 80 thousand tonnes palm oil that was imported from different countries were hoarded at Khulna TCB regional office, he said. He said in order to keep the price of essentials at a tolerable level, the TCB would continue to sell the essentials after Ramadan.
