CHITTAGONG, July 13: Sale of formalin-treated fish of different species has become rampant again in the kitchen markets of the port-city and its adjoining areas following suspension of anti-adulteration drive.

Formalin creates cancer in stomach and lungs of human body, and it is harmful for both the consumers and the sellers. Formalin is being mixed into the imported fishes of Ruhi species as well as a few local varieties.

Besides urban areas, some wholesale traders and dishonest sellers are frequently selling these formalin-treated fishes in the rural hats and bazars of the district.
