Sale of subsidised food starts in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Apr 7: Sale of rice and wheat at subsidised rates for the poor and ultra poor people has started in Nilphamari district. Under the project, supervised by District Controller of Food, a total of 1,05,000 families across six Upazilas of the district will be covered under food safety net. Each family would get 10 kg rice at the rate of Tk 24 per kg and 10 kg wheat at the rate of Tk 20 per kg every month. There are 60 Union Parishads in Nilphamari district and two dealers in each Union Parishad have been selected to sell the food items. Sources said according to the ratio of population in Domar Upazila has been allotted 15,405 cards, Dimla 15,974 cards, Jaldhaka 19,169 cards, Kishoreganj 16,903 cards, Syedpur 12,558 cards and Nilphamari Sadar 24,850 cards.
