CHITTAGONG, Dec 06: Arrival of sacrificial animals loaded in trucks at different cattle-markets of the port city and its adjoining areas are being witnessed almost every day on the eve of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha which is set to be celebrated on December 9 next. But as the traders are sticking to their prices, sales of the sacrificial animals is not so encouraging.
According to the traders, the demand of big sized cows more or less exits in Chittagong. But prices of the big sized cows declined last year and as such, the traders had to incur losses. So compared to the previous year, number of big sized cows is less while small and medium sized cows are available.
Constant vigilance of the administration persists in all the cattle markets of the city. So no untoward incident has so far been reported from any market including Sagarika Cattle market which is the biggest in the city.
While talking to both buyers and traders it is gathered, the traders are not selling the animals at the prices demanded by the buyers and the buyers are still observing the market situation. So the overall sales is not so remarkable.
Traders apprehends significant drop in price level of cows in the later stage of sales like previous year.
