Sammilito Islami Dal calls daylong hartal for Oct 26

Sammilito Islami Dal, a coalition of Islamist parties, on Wednesday called a nationwide 24-hour hartal for October 26 demanding Latif Siddiqui's trial for his derogatory cpmments about Holy Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat. Mawlana Zafrullah Khan, secretary general of the coalition, announced the shutdown programme for Sunday (Oct 26) from a press conference at National Press Club this (Wednesday) morning as the government failed to arrest Siddiqui by today (Wednesday) for his rant, exceeding their earlier-given deadline. On Oct 16, the coalition threatened to enforce a daylong hartal across the country on the day (Oct 26) if the sacked minister was not nabbed by Oct 22 for his disparaging comments that hurt sentiments of Muslims, according to private TV channels.
