Sangsad TV goes on air tomorrow

Monday, 24 January 2011

The much-expected Sangsad Bangladesh Television (STV) will formally go on air tomorrow (Tuesday) through telecasting live speech of President M Zillur Rahman at the first session of the new year, reports UNB.
The TV channel, however, went for test transmission Sunday evening (6.00pm) with its approved logo, theme song and documentaries, said a PID handout.
The STV will broadcast parliament proceedings live when the parliament is in session. When the session will be in recess, it will air two-hour programmes regularly from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
Speaker Abdul Hamid presided over the review meeting at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban Saturday while Deputy Speaker Shawkat Ali, Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad, Chief Whip Abdus Shahid, whips ASM Firoz, Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury and Sagufta Yasmin, and M Shahriar Alam MP attended.
The meeting decided that the Sangsad Television would primarily use the infrastructure, establishment, manpower and technical support of the state-run BTV to continue its programme in a limited scale.
The duration of STV programmes would be expanded when it would have its own logistic supports to run it independently.
The meeting also approved TV logo, theme song and a number of documentaries. The test transmission started Sunday through airing documentaries and songs.
Besides, a five-member committee has been formed to review and ensure quality of different programmes.
