Sanofi-aventis organises epilepsy awareness programme

Sanofi-aventis, the largest global pharmaceutical company in the country, organised an awareness programme Friday to improve prevention, treatment, care and services for people with epilepsy.
A number of doctors, specialists and patients suffering from epilepsy, gathered together on a platform during the event with a commitment towards a good and healthy society for people with this disorder.
Sanofi-aventis Bangladesh Managing Director Iftekharul Islam inaugurated the programme. Society of Neurologists of Bangladesh (SNB) Secretary General AKM Anwar Ullah, Vice President Quazi Deen Mohammad, and President Amsul Haque were also present on the occasion, and spoke on different aspects of epilepsy for creating awareness.
After that discussion, patients suffering from the disorder came on the stage, and talked about their life with epilepsy. From their words the practical scenario of many of the aspects of the disease came out into the light.
In the country 1.5 - 2.0 million (15 - 20 lakh) people are suffering from epilepsy. Sanofi-aventis produces and markets 'Epilim Chrono', a medicine for the epileptic patients. 'Epilim' is mainly indicated for management of all forms of epilepsy in patients of all age groups. It is available in 200-mg, 300-mg and 500-mg tablets.
