Saskatchewan Univ delegates meet JU VC

Research collaboration in focus

A delegation from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada held a courtesy meeting with Jahangirnagar University vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Nurul Alam.
The meeting was aimed at enhancing collaboration in education and research, particularly in biotechnology and genetic engineering.
Led by Dr Baljit Singh, vice-president (research) at the University of Saskatchewan, the delegation convened at the VC Office at 10:00 am on Thursday.
In the meeting, they highlighted the need for bilateral cooperation in education and research with the biotechnology and genetic engineering department at JU.
Prof Alam expressed sincere gratitude to Dr Singh for his keen interest in academic collaboration with JU.
Emphasising the importance of collaboration, the VC underscored the need to closely work together across various educational and research domains between the two universities.
Angela Bedard-Haughn, dean of the College of Agriculture and Bioresources at the University of Saskatchewan, and Hasan Ahmed, international programme development manager at Canada's Global Institute of Food Security, comprised the delegation.
Representing JU, pro-VC (admin) Prof Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq, treasurer Prof Dr Rasheda Akhtar and registrar Abu Hasan, biotechnology department chairman Dr Md Rezaul Karim and Prof Dr Mohammad Shahedur Rahman of the department, among others, attended the meeting. Earlier, the delegates toured the biotechnology department.
