Saudi visa application
FE Report | Sunday, 16 October 2022
Manpower recruiting agencies at an emergency meeting on Saturday demanded cancellation of the system for applying Saudi visas through the newly set up visa application centre to avoid possible hassles.
They also decided not to submit passports for Saudi visas until the new system is changed.
The Saudi embassy in Dhaka has recently set up a visa centre, Shapla Centre, for receiving applications from the Saudi-bound Bangladeshis, and requested the manpower recruiters to submit applications through the centre from Saturday.

Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) organised the meeting at a city hotel to protest the new system.
According to the association, it is one kind of syndication that would create complications in the process of receiving visas in time, and it would charge an extra fee.
Addressing the meeting, BAIRA President Md Abul Bashar said they would not submit visa applications through the centre unless the system is changed.
If any BAIRA member is engaged in the process, he or she will be punished, he warned.
Shameem Ahmed Chowdhury Noman, secretary general, and other leaders of BAIRA also spoke at the meeting.
