Savar garment factory gutted

A fire broke out Monday at Zong Sine, a foreigner-owned garment factory in the new export processing zone in Savar. Officials said more than 100 workers were inside the factory when it went up in flames at 4:30pm. What caused the fire could not be immediately determined. Police were deployed at the scene to keep order. Senior official of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Selina Mobarak Chowdhury said they sent fire fighters from Ashulia and Gazipur to the scene. The local administration and army units were also working to douse the blaze. —bdmews24.com
