Savar house robbed of Tk 2m valuables

SAVAR, Sept 6 (UNB): Robbers injured three members of a family and looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Tk 20 million from a businessman's house at Imandipur in the municipality area here early Saturday.
Police said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 8-10, stormed the house of businessman Alam Chowdhury in the area at about 3:30 am by breaking open the door and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.
They looted 32 tolas of gold ornaments, cash Tk 0.1 million and other valuables worth Tk 2 million from the house.
The hoodlums also beat up three family members, including Alam Chowdhury and his son Sohel Chowdhury, as they tried to resist the robbery, leaving them injured.
On information, police visited the spot.
Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station, said they launched a drive to track down the robbers.
A case was filed in this connection.
