Save Buriganga, save environment

Monday, 26 March 2018

IT is indeed painful to see that the Buriganga is being increasingly subjected to pollution. It looks like we are totally unaware of the disastrous consequences. We often find our city roads being inundated as a result of not-too-heavy rains as we have been killing water bodies of the city one after another. The Buriganga has been losing its navigability as a result of indiscriminate waste disposal and encroachment.
It could soon be a nonexistent entity if immediate steps are not taken to reverse the damage. As rivers are the lifelines of Bangladesh it is imperative that the government took immediate steps to stop further pollution of the Buriganga on the one hand and restored its freshness and navigability on the other.
