The Appellate Division has deferred by one week the appeal hearing of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee in a case filed against him for committing crimes against humanity during Liberation War in 1971. The five-member bench, led by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain, passed the order on Tuesday, fixing January 28 for the next hearing. On January 13, the Court resumed the hearing after 48-days due to 18-party called shutdown and winter vacation. Earlier, on February 28 last year, Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Delawar Hossain Sayedee was sentenced to death for wartime offences during Bangladesh’s independence struggle. International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 led by Justice Fazle Kabir pronounced the death sentence, according to a news agency.
