SB files loan default case against Tarique, 9 others

The Sonali Bank Limited (SB) Tuesday filed a money suit against BNP Senior Vice Chairman and eldest son of former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and nine other directors of the Dandy Dyeing Ltd over a default loan of Tk 454.90 million (45.49 crore).
Other accused in the suit include Khaleda Zia's youngest son Arafat Rahman Koko, Mr. Tarique's close friend Giasuddin Al Mamun, Mamun's wife Shahina Yeasmin, late Syed Iskander's wife Nasrin Iskander and their sons Shams Iskander and Shafin Iskander and daughter Sumaiya Iskander.
"We've have filed the suit with the Orthorin Adalat-1 in Dhaka as part of our ongoing process," an official familiar with the money suit process told the FE Tuesday night.
The accused borrowed the money from the state-owned commercial bank on October 16, 2001, it was learnt.
