SB officer held with 0.65 million Yaba tablets

The Special Branch (SB) of Police on Sunday suspended an assistant sub-inspector, Mahfuzur Rahman, in connection with the recovery of 0.65 million Yaba tablets from his possession.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized Yaba tablets from a car and arrested ASI Mahfuzur Rahman and his driver Zabed Ali, at Lalpur in Feni early Sunday.
Mahfuzur Rahman had been serving at the technical section of SB, Dhaka.
A patrol team of Rab-7 stopped his luxurious ‘Allion’ car after it was speeding off after hitting a child at Lalpur. Searching the vehicle, they found Yaba tablets and arrested the duo.
Contacted, Assistant Inspector General (AIG-Media) of Police Headquarters Nazrul Islam confirmed that the SB headquarters has already suspended ASI Mahfuzur Rahman in connection with the recovery of the Yaba consignment.
An inquiry team from the SB HQs was sent to the spot.
On the basis of the inquiry report, further steps will be taken against him, the AIG (Media) said.
